Craniosacral Therapy for Adults

The roots of craniosacral therapy lie in osteopathy. At the beginning of the 20th century, the American physicians Dr. A. Still and Dr. W.G. Sutherland researched the rhythmic movements of all bones and tissues and their axes of movement. In this system, the cerebrospinal fluid pulsates like a tide and is transmitted from the skull via the spine to the sacrum and via the body fascia (connective tissue) and fluids to the whole body. This free flow of movement is a prerequisite for healthy human development and functioning.

Craniosacral therapy is a form of bodywork in which the client's personality is treated with the utmost care, attentiveness and respect. I support the client on the path to self-healing with subtle manual impulses that initiate self-regulation of the body. The person's health is supported and resources are strengthened so that positive changes can take place. This form of treatment can be used on people of all ages, even if they are in a very painful or frail condition. It offers support for acute and chronic pain, illnesses and emotional stress.

During the craniosacral treatment, the client lies on the treatment table in comfortable clothing. However, it is also possible to work while sitting, standing or moving (especially with children). A treatment usually lasts 60 minutes. It can be shorter for children or older people. The craniosacral treatment can be accompanied by a conversation or take place in silence.

Craniosacral Therapy for Babys and Children

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle and holistic therapy method that is particularly suitable for infants and children. Through gentle touch and targeted techniques, the natural rhythm of the craniosacral system in the child's body is harmonized and blockages are released. This creates non-verbal communication between the baby/child and the practitioner.

The parents and the family environment are included in this process. The conscious and subtle relationship with the structures of the craniosacral system enables the child to relax deeply. By stimulating the self-healing powers of body and soul, not only structural but also emotional tensions are released. Craniosacral treatment is often particularly useful and recommended after a difficult, traumatic birth, both for the baby and for the parents. The shared bond and trust can be better felt and strengthened again.

FAQ Craniosacral Therapy

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral therapy is a comprehensive, holistic body therapy. It combines scientific knowledge and the intuitive perception of the practitioner in a unique way. Craniosacral therapy has its roots in osteopathy. The cerebrospinal fluid pulsates between the skull (cranium) and the sacrum. This rhythm is transmitted to the entire body and provides it with vital impulses. With gentle touch, movements and processes in the body are perceived and accompanied.

What does Craniosacral Therapy do?

As a craniosacral therapist, I feel the craniosacral rhythm with my own hands and can give gentle impulses to the organism. By harmonizing this rhythm, tensions can be reduced and pain alleviated, blockages and asymmetries can be released. This supports health and strengthens the body's own resources so that positive changes can take place.

How does Craniosacral Therapy work?

Craniosacral therapy can balance the central nervous system, positively influence motor coordination and neuromuscular functions, strengthen the immune system, increase the range of movement and improve body awareness. The therapy can thus influence the musculoskeletal system, the organs and the entire nervous, vascular, hormonal and lymphatic systems. The effect of the treatment also has a positive influence on the psychological level, as craniosacral therapy helps to lead the body and mind into a pleasant state of calm.

How much does Craniosacral Therapy cost?

A treatment usually lasts 60 minutes and costs CHF 140. For small children, the treatment is often somewhat shorter. The treatment costs are adjusted accordingly.

Is Craniosacral Therapy covered by health insurance?

I am registered with EMR, Visana, EGK and Craniosuisse as a federal complementary therapist using the craniosacral therapy method. Craniosacral therapy is one of the most popular complementary therapies in Switzerland and is recognized by most supplementary insurances. Please find out in advance to what extent your insurance company will contribute to the treatment costs. My ZSR (numerical register) number, which is requested in advance by certain insurance companies, is K667263.

How often Craniosacral Therapy?

The number and frequency of sessions depend on the recovery process. In principle, it is recommended to use craniosacral therapy for acute complaints at shorter intervals, i.e. weekly, and for prevention also at longer intervals, i.e. monthly.

Who is Craniosacral Therapy suitable for?

Craniosacral therapy is beneficial and invigorating for people of all ages. The mindful treatments work on a physical, emotional and psychological level.
